I don't have a car at the moment, last was a tesla
By the time these things actually hit the road in a couple years, current battery tech will already be dated. Making the housing modular is the only way to keep them from becoming paperweights.

Funny I had a thought we all have our concerns when buying from a startup but in scouts case we all felt somewhat secure because of VW's association. But now we don't want to have to go to one of their affiliate dealerships to buy one. You see this is why I feel it's a given that's going to be the scenario. Sometime in late 28 or 29 and it all makes sense it takes time to design build out dealership networks which in this case will be attached to VW dealership networks. I think scout will offer factory deliveries which will be capped and VW dealers will add scout to their inventory

then my price for factory delivery better be substantially lower than at the dealer. At least $5,000!

Well if I remember correctly back in 2014 to go to Bowlen green to pick up your corvette it was an additional 2500 not a discount. You may get free mats and a scout hat but remember when it comes time that scout finally does hit the streets they will be in demand some reservationist will re sell so don't hold your breath for any factory delivery discount 70 k is a good number

I'm going to contact my neighbor hood VW dealer and pick his brain and get on his list. I wonder how that will be handled if in fact Scout goes to a VW dealership model what happens to reservationist's location in line ? Is it then done by place in line and demographics meaning if # 1 is in Detroit does that dealership get the first scout ? Usually it's the number one selling dealer within network that gets the first batch ? I guess that's a question we will find the answer to in near future.

If it's anything like Bronco your reservation number had nothing to do with when you got your vehicle. Ford built what Ford built and if it matched up with an order, you had to convert your reservation to an order, then you got your car. If you never converted your reservation to an order then you never got a car. At some point, I don't remember exactly when, Ford said you had to convert your reservation to an order by a certain date or it would be cleared out of the system.

As an example there were issues with hard tops early on so if you ordered a HT your car wasn't getting built, switch it to a soft top and Bam, car was built.

Us 2 door people really got screwed as they couldn't build cars with HT's and 2 doors only come with a HT, there is no factory option for just a soft top. So as a Day 2 reservation holder we were pushed into the next model year as they weren't building 2 doors for a while.

Dealer allocation also had a significant impact on who got what and when, if your dealer had no allocation then you weren't getting a car no matter what. Not sure how this would all work with no dealer allocation drama getting in the way.

I just hope for all involved that Scout does a better job than Ford did, the whole thing was mess. The good news is that there is probably a fraction of Scout reservations as what Ford had for Bronco.

I think it's f ford comes to market with a hybrid or Erev version of the bronco next year you may see a lot of reservations get cancelled
