You're not getting the point, in America, people don't buy on what they need, they buy on the dream of doing "X" someday with the vehicle. And in this segment, "X" is multi-day trips out into the backcountry fishing, hunting, camping, and hiking in all the places where charges aren't located...
In America we buy vehicles based on thoughts, hopes, dreams and prayers, NOT what we actually NEED the vehicle for.
If we bought like that and manufactures sold what we "needed" there would only be 2 door Civics on the road.
Show me a Scout add where the car is just driving around the city...
So here’s who Scout is marketing to:
EV only people don’t want it as better battery and charging speed will be out and they’ll be buying a dinosaur.
EREV people don’t want it cause it will add weight, complexity, and reduce towing.
Just add a “portable” 300 pound generator that I store at...
This pet mode thing has me intrigued, we've owned dogs for about 30 years, we've never left them in a car (kids either).
Do people with EV's routinely leave their animals in parked cars? What's different if I leave my pet in a car with the engine running vs. leaving it in an EV in "pet mode"...
Unfortunately at this point I think it's knee jerk reaction to market forces and they're backed into a corner with no way out. I fear that by launch this thing is going to be a cobbled together mess.
No, but at some point close to when it comes time to convert reservations to orders there will be some sort of order guide that will come out. Once that happens you will be able to go to your dealer, or on-line, depending on what happens with all the lawsuits, and place your actual order. A...
My guess is that they will first build the most expensive ones to fill ORDERS. From current RESERVATION stats that will be EREV Travelers. BUT who knows what people will actually do when it comes time to convert their reservation to an order..........
Because in the US we like the thought our cars doing anything. I may get a camper, I may get a boat, I may take that once in a lifetime off road adventure through Colorado and Utah, I may have 4 kids and 3 grandkids and take them all on a cross country road trip, I may need to take 4 co-workers...
So in a nutshell the .gov got involved and it all went to 💩
So they knew it was going to be filled in but they did it too soon so they shut everything down for five months just to prove they were in charge.
After five months they said, “Sure go ahead and fill it in because as we all know that...
I’m not here to defend Scout but they’re in kind of a tough spot. How long does it take to build an auto factory from the ground up? They couldn’t really just announce building a new factory and not announce a vehicle. When will the factory be ready to have the first vehicle roll off, couple...
I think they got boxed into a corner and had to scramble to come up with something with a gas motor in it. I'll be surprised if an EREV rear engine Scout sees the light of day. They may delay another couple of years and put the engine in the front but I guess we'll have to wait and see. In...
Well said, some decent options out there now and more coming soon. I'm looking forward to seeing what Nissan does and maybe even possibly GMC. I need to replace my '15 Grand Cherokee at some point preferably with a body on frame SUV with 5-6K towing, a true low range transfer case and 33"ish...
The whole charging infrastructure thing may be a moot point. Seems like manufacturers are just adding gas engines in the their EV's and pivoting from plug-in hybrids to hybrids.
True EV enthusiasts have homes with charging capability and seem to stay on major thoroughfares when traveling so...
