I have an addiction I'm 66 yrs old have had 54 cars 30 of them were new so caddy is under warranty till end of 29 either a scout or another caddy will be in my garage if I'm still alive by end of 29 time will tell but either way Santa's coming again !!!
I'm 62 and haven't had that many cars, but I have to say that EVs are way better designed with very low total cost of ownership (TCO).

I love my low cost of owning a 2018 Honda Clarity PHEV that gets driven in EV mode 90% of the time, not using the gas except for a long distance drive.
This will get passed onto my son as he loves Honda.

Ford BEV with 45,000 miles at is my daily driver and the 230 mile range is more than I need for a week.

The only reasons I am keeping my BEV is that the maintenance has been almost free - except for tires and wiper blades. Brakes are still at 85%. Tesla Supercharger access for almost 2 years has been a godsend while on road trips.

Ours was reserved 7/14/20 @ 0832, built 1/11/22, delivered 1/28/22, and murdered on 6/18/25. She was replaced with a '25.
Ah so you were one of those "other people" I was referring to!
My wife is sort of itching to get rid of it. It is her car primarily, anyway.
Not sure she can hold out for the Scout (that I'm not even sure she wants) if there do end up being some substantial delays.
I love the Bronco though. I may try to find a way to keep it...

O oh, BAD news for dealers and part of the reason for the pushback on DTC ( can get most of this maintenance anywhere).

IF the major service issues can be handled by manufacturers service centers or third parties (a big IF but going to a dealer service department with a EV is already a crap shoot) we will be good.

So when is the new sale date?

Jeep, Slate, Scout…

Meanwhile, Tesla is out of control with no competition and is so confused they don’t know what to sell their only truck for.

$120k, $99k, 79k, $69k, $59k, etc.

I think before anyone buys an EV ask how many trained mechanics they have on EV's and are they on their staff full time or do they travel between dealerships network. And then ask to physically meet them. I have been lucky to own a construction company and have always had a great relationship with my GM dealer as we've spent large sums of money with them and grew to know the owner to the car washer. So when it came time to go full EV I went to my guy and he pointed me to the Cadillac Vistiq and so far zero complaints. Got before the discounts went away I think we got 12 k off with incentives. So that helps in depreciation at trade in but do you trade and 80 k suv in for 30 in 3-4 yrs or gift it to your kids. Good EV mechanics are IT guys that love cars and have mechanical ability once you've find one get his home number.

With the press release of a delay in production/delivery now over a week old, it would be a great time to hear a message from Scott Keogh on this.

Well one has to take tidbits from each megaphone and apply common sense to what each side says. But it seems if Scout's main or only battery supplier is in Canada seems like maybe VW jump the gun on South Carolina but money always is the main objective. And a Billion dollars over budget gets peoples attention. But what the guy says makes some sense of current playing field. And ford is running with the Scout platform with Bronco and they will beat Scout to the punch because their factories are operational now. But when there's good news we want to share it right ???

I don't have a car at the moment, last was a tesla
A year delay is pretty standard for new automotive startups, but it still sucks. If they are pushing it to 2028, they really need to make sure the software is flawless at launch. Most people waiting are just going to look at the R1S or the new electric Silverado instead.

VW may just have decided to pause factory layout of robotics because they maybe adding other product lines like Audi. Maybe the guy in pause video is right. Regardless 2028 is a long time and that could be extended if we don't see actual protégé's by end of 2027 auto show order versions then 2028 will be 2029. But the factory progress videos just don't have the same level of enthusiasm knowing its years away from spitting out scouts if ever ?

Really ? Didn't know Ford is coming out with an EREV Bronco in the US.
I thought it was for the Chinese market only ?

As I continue searching options for other EREVs...

This year the RAM EREV is coming out, but $70,000 price tag scares me...

Personally I think EREV's are going to have a short shelf life. Once battery tech advances ( Donut Lab ) EV's will exceed Erev range . EREV's only work when both engine and battery is fully charged and full tank of fuel. Once battery is depleted and Erev motor kicks in there are questions weather it the engine can keep up with power demands on uphill towing scenarios. But as we speak there are no Erev's on the road. And VW knows they are what the crowd is shouting for ( Barabus ) but they know who will get them to the promise land. And it's where they initially started ( EV technology with 500 plus miles of range ) for that I will wait and thank the executive's at VW for having the vision and the balls to do what we all know is the future.
