Yes, I have seen HiLux (Toyota) trucks from Mexico that are half priced compared to the Tacoma in the US.
They are diesel which makes them powerful workhorses that will last longer.
The driver said, it's possible to buy the half priced HiLux in Mexico and then import into the US ???
I can see reservation holder conversion to orders dropping like flies.
When Ford opened the F150 Lightning BEV reservations, about 60% of reservation holders converted to real orders when production started.
Some of those F150 buyers that converted merely bought it for flipping them for...
Just as a comparison, my Honda PHEV gets about 325 miles of range using a 7 gallon gas tank!
With the small EV battery, it gets about 50 miles range per charge.
Total is 375 miles for fully charged 17kW battery + 7 gallon gas tank = very frugal.
This line up of upcoming EREV summarizes what is coming out and what price point.
While RAM will be the first EREV wit 690 mile range, price point is way too high (think Ford F150 Lightning Platinum trim).
Scout looks to be a very good ad placement and price point in this article of EREVs...
Gas / diesel prices would also be a factor.
I know that in most of the country, fuel prices are very low.
Unfortunately I live in a very expensive fuel priced area ($5/gallon gas, $6/gallon diesel, $6/gallon JetA fuel) so it makes sense to go EV.
Gone are the days of $400/month gasoline...
Driving that fast, cold temps, towing, hauling, and mountainous terrain will seriously hit the range.
Scout may not be the correct tool for the job.
You should look at either the light duty F150 Ford Powerboosted Hybrid gas truck or heavy duty high efficiency modern diesel engine trucks & SUVs...
Both for me.
Loved the IH design of the past plus the EREV feature makes it a perfect fit for me.
Coming from 3 EVs, I'd say the EREV will be better for longer range driving.
Retiring in a few months so looking forward to more relaxed trips.
RAM EREV will be releasing their EREV this year 2026.
RAM will be the first to market and beat out Scout for 2027 and who knows when Ford will reveal theirs...
Wonder what the pricing will be ???

Isn't that a hoot!
Agree - thread hijack at it's best.
I would love to be a beta tester for the Scout as I am retiring in a few months and I will be in a good place to test out the Scout in So Calif area which is unique.
It's very eerily similar to the EV/PHEV rage from 2016-2022 that I took advantage of.
CARB did administer it and the funds were replenished every year.
I was able to snag a $4000 state rebate check for our PHEV which we still have.
This time the manufacturer is having to match it - that's...
YES!
I bought the Ford F150 Lightning and it was a mistake after I brought it home.
I prefer the mid size Ranger truck.
If Ford comes out with a Ranger sized EREV truck, I'd be first to get it.
Slate sent me 2 different concept sketches via mail.
They are going to start selling their 2027 models end of this year!
Scout better put some "EV power" into production!
100% agree - depreciation is last thing on my mind as I reach retirement in a few months.
Worked hard in the public sector for decades and now going to enjoy my lifelong government pension income so now I have a huge list of bucket list items to start/purchase/complete:
Scout EREV
Single...
Only affecting the EREV Scout models, following this lawsuit in CO against the state, I'd say that VW being connected to Scout is an issue.
Why Scout can't be like Tesla, I don't understand.

Very small percentage of cars needed an entire replacement.
Most or the warranty issues are resolved using small/individual packs.
I have had 3 EVs and none needed replacement so far.
