Scout is working with Rivian Software because they want to do Software defined vehicle. Rivian is electric only and has no experience with ICE. This may be causing the issue (speculation). SDV are really different. Very few physical buttons and those buttons can do multiple things. An ICE, everybody has a very specific task and they do that task really well.

I would do an analogy but I really suck at them.

Ugh…wake me up in literally 3 years. In that time I will have leased a Rivian R2. And I bet the majority of those wanting the EREV are those who currently don’t drive an EV. You lose performance, are dependent on gas for nominal trips, and require maintenance compared to EV only. I’ve had my Tesla Model Y Performance for 3 years and absolutely $0 other than in-home charging and charging fees when vacationing. Same wipers, tires, and washer fluid. That’s all an EV really taxes you in upkeep. I tow my personal watercraft, transport my lab, enough legroom for all 5, and other than Elon and having a car that can easily get lost in a crowd, it has been the lowest maintenance, fastest vehicle, easiest and most fun to drive vehicle for me. I reserved the Traveler EV because I want what their prototype shows with the same things I’ve grown to love listed above. But a generator model that’s less quick, less EV range, likely to require maintenance, and now so far out that solid state technology will be the thing, I just don’t know if I can stay interested in an already outdated dream. The reservation $ is out of mind so I’ll just keep it for now in hopes they pivot with the times. But I can’t keep up any excitement with so many advancements that will occur over the next few years while Scout parades around their concept models that are already two years old.
They like Tesla with the Cybertruck had me at 500miles range and under 60k. I might be in a BMWi3 Neue Klasse as my first EV.

Scout like Tesla with the CT had me at 500 miles range and under $60k. For my first EV, BMW i3 Neue Klasse might be the first to market to come close to fitting that bill.

2.5 years is a very long time in today's market. People are going to remember the price projection today and wonder why, when it finally makes it out of production, it cost so much. If you believe the other manufactures are just sitting around waiting to see what happens you are kidding yourself. The battery extender in the scout might go down as the biggest fail in the industry since the emissions scandal. Oh wait that was the same company.

The article doesn't provide much substance, any sources, nor any key facts for such a delay. If it is true, this is a big blow for Scout. Like CaptMilks comments above, 2.5 years from now is a long time. When you add the 1.5 years since Scout first made the announcement, this is a huge turn-off and makes me doubt Scout's leadership. I am not a fan of getting our butts kicked by the Chinese, but when you consider that they can take a concept vehicle and move it into mass production in 2 years, it's almost like US consumers are getting a huge disservice by the current auto manufacturers. The only one that can compete but is not winning is Tesla. Scout better not delay, or they won't survive. Being first to market with a real extended range truck and SUV is huge advantage. When you figure, Ford and RAM will have their EREVs out before Scout, each are a dagger into Scout's heart. Some will buy those first ones to market and if they are solid products, Scout won't be able to gain enough momentum to survive. It's not like VW is a solid company to support Scout indefinitely. Bring on the Chinese cars and let those who can't evolve and compete just die off as they should. Sorry that I am sounding more like a capitalist than a patriot. Other than the security concerns, the Chinese cars would be great competition to the dinosaur-minded auto manufacturers in play now....this includes those in the EU

No one is disputing the claims that I see ? And when you have good news don't you share it ? Bottom line is whoever is first with the new technology is the winner. It doesn't seem scout has a definitive path they did in the beginning but then in my opinion trying to be mainstream instead of the innovator when you have a vision stick with it don't deviate from it or you lose your vision.
