Rivian R2 Review Videos Are Out

Done right, that engine should hardly ever need maintenance unless you’re a road warrior or need massive miles for your job perhaps. For most people, isn’t it going to be the nice thing to have when you suddenly decide to go see family or have some thing to do that normally you don’t? Otherwise...

    Another option while we wait??

If Quantumscape comes thru, then they’ll be sittin’ pretty. They’ll have the newest tech, hopefully more range and less costs since they’re invested. VW and Bill Gates are huge investors in QS

    Another option while we wait??

Quantumscape is their hopes and dreams for the solid state battery tech. But they can’t scale. That’s a big if and until then they can’t be counted on. But who knows in 2 years? Currently batteries used in the ID4 come from what supplier makes the most sense. As Doctor Goog says: North America...

    Another option while we wait??

Oh Gawd I hope not…. Quantumscape is down 60% on the year. There’s a company that gives investors a reality check- you can have a boat-load of patents and amazing tech but if you can’t scale it large for your customers then it’s pure cash burn. 🔥 Lets hope Scout has a plan B or an engine perhaps 🤨

Is Scout dead in the water? I'm not buying it at a 10-25% tariff added cost.

Good to know. In that article: “Scout doubled down on its commitment to simpler, safer physical controls by retaining traditional door handles and physical buttons throughout the cabin instead of touch-sensitive controls.” Yeah well I tell you what - I spent all freaking weekend tearing apart...

    Another option while we wait??

Outdated tech is definitely a sliding scale for everyone. Range will probably be the biggest for most perhaps? I think it definitely depends on the person. I rarely go over 100 miles a day and never tow. Not an issue for me. But not having a rear back up camera or heated steering wheel would be...

Is Scout dead in the water? I'm not buying it at a 10-25% tariff added cost.

Zombie thread! But anyway not sure I agree with “everyone will want one for $80k”. I think for you and me, we both know that stuff costs a lot these days, you get what you pay for and you pay a premium for premium brands. But there’s a lot of people who are on a budget, or value trumps...

    Another option while we wait??

I love any idea where the car of my dreams can get a minimum 40 to 50 miles of electric range but does that mean I’m going to have that huge road case battery in the rear of the car? Not sure who’s going to be okay with that…. got a feeling that the inventor is leaving battery placement up to...

What are you driving until Scout release date? Photos thread!

Hopefully I can replace the Fisker with a Pacific Mist Scout and keep the Defender for days I feel sorry for OPEC

Could Production Delays be an Opportunity for Solid-State Batteries?

Everyone is different- I know of course that there are those who would compare a bunch of manufacturers for the best value or best car for their needs (even though it might be fugly or unliked by a majority) but no one ever mentions there’s people out there (like me 😃) who couldn‘t care less...

Request: Dog Mode / Climate Control While Parked for Harvester

I never thought about a scenario where one could use an interior camera to monitor your mutt (in pet mode). That’s really cool, and smart 🧠. Thanks for sharing

Request: This Could Add 15% Winter Range to Scout EVs

I’m exactly the same way, I’m always powering the back heater on full throttle and never use the butt warmer 🔥( i ) . I don’t like it. Seems like every other car we’ve had, has had that capability. I really hope that is a feature. I’d pay extra for that, but that’s just me. No steering wheel...

    A GPS Altimeter for Scouts

I don’t know how the Defender altimeter works, but I love the compass window on my screen and the elevation readings. I was watching it the other day and was kind of shocked that just running to the coffee shop I was changing 140‘ in altitude where I would have never guessed over the 5 mile...

Request: Dog Mode / Climate Control While Parked for Harvester

I’m pretty sure that an EV uses (especially with heat pump) considerably less power than the gas you would be using which is definitely more expensive than charging at home costs. Plus, I think some gas cars in hot environments could overheat. I would be pretty shocked to see someone’s car...

Request: Dog Mode / Climate Control While Parked for Harvester

Answering my own question, I put out the question regarding pet mode status on vehicle app to an acquaintance in Seattle who has a Tesla. He got back to me this morning and said yes the app shows mode and current interior car temp. I would assume that Rivian has the same(?).

Request: Dog Mode / Climate Control While Parked for Harvester

Does anyone know if the Tesla/Rivian pet mode have phone app telemetry? I mean, it would be super cool (no pun intended) to leave the car and know your doggies are being air conditioned, but it would weigh heavily in my mind that something could fail and cook them. That would scar me for life...

Scout Seattle Event Announced For May 9, 2026 @ 10am-2pm

Thanks Skip, not sure how I got quoted 13 times in that last post 😅 but hey the thought is there! Appreciate the long list of observations. Everything looks good on my end. I don’t really care about the back looking like it isn’t that roomy as neither is my Defender really. If I really need...

Scout Seattle Event Announced For May 9, 2026 @ 10am-2pm

Thank you So I’m assuming that the protos were the same white for the Traveler and off-green for the Terra? Were you able to get right up close and check interior quality? The interior is a big one for me

Scout Seattle Event Announced For May 9, 2026 @ 10am-2pm

Hey did anyone go to this today (5-9-26)? I was 100% planning on driving up from PDX but I had to take my dog to the hospital this morning and that wiped out any chance of getting there before 2pm. Bummer that they made this such a limited hour event ending so early.
