Well, IF VW dealers do win I likely won’t be buying since they will tack on the inevitable “market adjustment” to the price. Won’t pay it. There are always other interesting alternatives when purchasing any vehicle. Will be a sad day.

Hey I hope to meet you guys even the ones I don't agree with in South Carolina Neil Young on the stage and we're rocking the Scout compound leaving with our rides we've been wondering if our fat asses we're ever going to sit in one. But I'm in Florida now one of members at the club is a partner in car dealership conglomerate. All he says is it's a slam dunk that current CEO of Scouts compensation is tied to VW as is their total ownership. But I will not be shocked if my neighborhood VW dealership is breaking ground on a new brand ?????

Okay you have 50 bucks to wager which side you betting scout or VW knowing all the dealers need to do is tie VW to Scout that doesn't seem to hard to me. There's an easy family tree. My 50 is on VW What's yours
I won’t take that bet because I think the actual odds at this point are 50/50.

Smug bastard. Dealership franchise laws are state government based and only apply within the states boundaries. I am not aware of any state DMV/DOT that refuses to register a US compliant vehicle purchased out of state (or on tribal land NOT subject to state law). They just want their sales tax.

Not a fan of litigation BUT IF it comes to this and there is a viable work around I will incur additional cost if needed.

ALSO he may over estimate VW’s loyalty to the dealers. They signed off on this idea initially and I am sure did some initial legal consultation. US OEM’s have previously looked at DTC AND the buying public’s perception of dealers has likely not improved following pandemic era “market adjustment” pricing and the current “infomercial “ that you have to sit through during the sale closing.

I don't think VW wants to get in a battle with its VW dealers. To the point there only recourse is to not take it n new stock. Now car dealerships are very diversified VW maybe just one of there many brands . They aren't going to layover and NADA is also behind them. I personally think I will be taking delivery at a VW dealer or if allowed at the plant maybe that's something that's negotiable that scout can offer factory delivery at least to all its reservationist if not anyone who opts to. We should know before we place our actual orders. But right now I'm running out of quarters for the scout window

You’re acting like VW just stumbled into this without thinking it through.

They knew dealer pushback was coming. That’s why Scout is set up the way it is.

Dealers “not taking stock” isn’t the nuclear option you think it is if the brand isn’t dependent on them in the first place.

Definitely disappointing but not totally unexpected. I've been leaning towards the full electric lately and that will probably be even a year later than the Harvester. :(
Hi, I too am leaning toward the full EV version of the scout but had not heard this will mean longer waits. I was actually hoping for the opposite due to so many wanting the range motor option. I figured they wanted some of us to be in the full EV version to show off a bit. Can you explain why or point me to more news on this prediction?

I am simply saying I think VW dealers and NADA are going to win a judgment against VW by what I read and here and delays and more money out of VW 's coffers will create a compromise so Scout can have immediate outlets it sort of makes sense. Dealers get to sell Scout brands and Scout is able to offer factory deliveries to those who choose that option. But VW dealers are your service and sales centers.

As to when we will officially know when scout will open orders hopefully by end of 2026. But for currently owning a 300 mile EV I figure the longer the wait the more chance the Scout EV will have battery tech enabling 500 miles of range and fast charging. So I'm picturing end of 2028 / Early 2029 and paying 70 k

Not dropping the bev but leading with range extended version. I am guessing that the $$ are tight and the bev may take a bit longer.

I gave up my reservation. I had the BEV Traveler reserved. Someone is interested in buying my Jeep, so I decided to jump in to the EV world now rather than wait. Picked up a CPO EV6 GT-Line AWD. Loving it so far.

VW has really never quite been able to figure out the North American market. The last time I remember them making any inroads (pardon the pun) was back in the late '90s with their "Drivers Wanted" campaign. They had a good thing going pitching European design and engineering in an affordable package. Then a decade or two later, we had the CEO claiming "Americans can't afford our cars," when really, they had no SUVs or CUVs when the market shifted out from underneath them.

It's a shame. All I really want is a short-wheelbase two-box EV that sits up high and has 4WD. Looks like I'll be waiting quite a while. I hope Scout gets it together because I love the idea of a body-on-frame go anywhere EV with a button-heavy dashboard.

I tend to keep my cars for ten years or more. So the next car I buy will likely be in 2030 or later. Maybe they'll be out by then. :like:
