Rivian R2 Review Videos Are Out

With these new Rivian R2 vs Model Y videos are appearing on YouTube. It has only confirmed my choice to wait for Scout Traveler Harvester as the best bet.
R2 @80mph they rated at 200mpge
R2 @70mph rated at 255mpge
The odd shaped Model Y kept it 300+ mpge @70mph. Which is closer to posted mpge. Clearly the Rivian R2 has posted a mpge much higher than it should have to sell vehicles.

The Scout's I would assume will fall closer to efficiency issues similar to Rivian R2. The difference is needing to gas up multiple times on a trip, vs 20 min charges multiple times. Day to day city are non issue for either. The 100-150 range is plenty to handle day to day driving for majority of people.

My hype for Scout & Harvester is has only gotten stronger. Looking forward to seeing more info next year.

But also makes me think about the 350mpge full battery claims on the Scout.
These boxier smaller battery vehicles just seem to not be able to achieve these 300+ ranges they want to claim.

Still hopeful for harvester and smaller more efficient battery. LFP or Solid State would be amazing.

get back on the road for 400+ range.

Worry of mine, is the added maintenance of the little gas engine. I have been driving full battery EV for 8 years now. I hope we get a lot of details next year.

Done right, that engine should hardly ever need maintenance unless you’re a road warrior or need massive miles for your job perhaps. For most people, isn’t it going to be the nice thing to have when you suddenly decide to go see family or have some thing to do that normally you don’t? Otherwise it’s just sitting there doing nothing and a piece of mind.

I dont even remember doing any maintenance on either of my i3’s. On my Cadillac ELR (tweaked Gen1 Volt powertrain), I had that car for close to 5 years and can’t remember doing maintenance either - maybe an oil change once? The car automatically goes into “maintenance mode” when it thinks it needs fresh gas and runs for like 10 minutes. And that’s it. But I rarely drive over 40 miles a day. I’m sure everyone will have different needs and maintenance needs.

Personally I want full BEV but may have to throw in the towel and get the Harvester if it looks like the BEV isn’t going to happen or take forever to come out.

To me they are only for towing once EV's surpass 500 miles of range why buy an Erev especially if your not road tripping or towing. And they are only rated for 500 miles of range currently. Once originally charged battery depletes engine engages so after you leave home for your trip your only getting 500 miles of range on your initial charge. Your not gassing up and charging so now your only capable of 350 miles of range and if towing and Ac or heat is on most likely less. So I can wait for what works give me the EV great weekend to all
