Scout will have lots of competition by the time they hit the streets Chinese are coming and not just with luxury vehicles they are far more advanced than us especially in EV's and EREV's and hybrids. But to me EREV's will be short lived for the masses. Once EV technology allows 500 mile of pure EV range the Erev only becomes desirable to people who tow and that's not a large number. And the Chinese will most likely will get there first and at a cost appealing to many. Ford , GM , VW will be forced to collaborate and rebrand some Chinese vehicles till they catch up. But for the dinosaurs who think ice is the future I got a bridge I like to sell ya.

Agreed. The US had an opportunity to stay ahead in this emerging tech space, but many people feel that recent policy decisions have made that harder. Canada’s approach, which is allowing a limited percentage of Chinese EVs into their market, is a good example of how other countries are positioning themselves differently. And since Canada’s market and automotive preferences are so closely aligned with the US, it really highlights the contrast.

Good video from CNBC (my favorite TV news channel). I really think the extended range electric vehicles have a lot of potential, and really could be very successful long term for larger vehicles like SUVs and Trucks. Heavy duty mining vehicles have used this setup for years and it has worked well. With my 2023 BMW X5 45e PHEV (which I love) about 60% of my miles have been in pure EV mode. With the Scout Harvester, which should have at least 100 miles of real world range, I would suspect that at least 80% of my miles would be in pure EV mode. For places that have relatively cheap electricity costs, this could be closer to break even (we did a detail cost breakout on the G05 bimmerpost, and sadly it usually wasn't cost effective to get the PHEV, but the PHEV has additional benefits regardless). Really with a EREV would are getting an electric car that just has an additional range extending gas or diesel generator. I do like that on a PHEV the gas engine is still directly engaged. I would have to rent one of these Scout Harvesters to really see what it was like. Good PHEVs really are great though. I think for full size trucks the EREV model has a lot of potential and can make-up for the shortcomings of full BEVs in the space.

We're celebrating 500 mile Erev range in state's Chinese are already producing Erev's that accomplish 900 miles watch the above video and price my buddy was in Dubai they used these to transport him around the city he was amazed at quality and cost they are in Philippines Europe and coming soon to the states through rebranding

I disagree with the "towing only" statement - EREV's will also appeal to folks with camping or 4-wheeling lifestyles, where plugging in won't be readily available yet still needing the ability to generate (pun intended) power to move or otherwise. I agree there will be lots more competition, and agree about the complexity of an EREV, but I feel the trade-offs are worth it.

Just saying what you say EREV's are useful for is a limited market it's not what scouts main base will be. As batteries advance EREV's become obsolete and become less desirable and that's 3 yrs away starting now. And if scout is not hitting the streets till 2028 then that's a short shelf life or by then they have an exceptional EV model with cutting edge range.
