Maybe coal too ?? probably because scout is looking to the future and ice will exist but not the future of automotive industry. EREV's have a short shelf life once Battery technology advances and it is as we speak. Not to many V8 or V6's being talked about. It's the last harrah for big oil. ice will always co exist but EV's will be where advances are pursued and made. Scout was originally all EV.

For my use cases I'm holding out for EREV. In fact, it'd be nice if they came out with the BEV first, that way they can start to take care of some form of customer base as well as start selling direct to consumers, assuming the EREV portion is causing an issue with Direct sales.

Once they get the BEV going and knock out any difficulties there, they can move forward with EREV. Sadly none of that is going to happen because of the high demand of the EREV, hence them moving forward and delays.

The software aspect is likely causing delays as well, since Rivian is likely focusing on R2 release and not giving VW what they paid for, some trouble brewing there.

We'll just have to get 🍿 and wait...

Definitely turbulent times to say the least.

RAM dropped it's full EV pickup and is bringing back V8's for pretty much everything, Ford dropped the Lightning, Lamborghini dropped it's EV plans, Honda and Toyota seem to be all in on hybrids.

Lots of moving pieces out there. I'd like to see some advances on the charging infrastructure side of things but I think we're still a ways out on that. I really don't think EREV is the future, EV's seem a lot better option once true nationwide, including remote areas, charging gets figured out.

Still a pretty niche market for those traveling along major interstates and in town commuting, arguably what 95% of us need 95% of the time.

If you are not retired, 90%+ of the time you should be able to get by with a 35-40 mile battery. I am talking the normal Jane/Joe. 12k commute a year. I think the main reason EV Pickups failed is the towing/hauling range. 350 mile battery, towing gives you 100 miles. then you fast charge to 80% to get on your way and now you have to charge at 80 miles. At least on paper. The pickup is the current SUV which was the minivan which was the station wagon.
My wife and I have Volvo XC90 recharge and we consistently get 1000 miles per 18 gallon tank. To be fair, we both work from home and only run into the city (20 miles each way) a couple if times a month. That is on a 35 mile battery. I love diving in all electric, it is why I want a EREV. I hate hybrids power trains. It is the worst of both worlds. Especially now with the turbo engines. The Volvo has 2.0 turbo and on the freeway it is fine, in town or the hills, it sucks.
As everyone in this forum knows, electric does not struggle when the terrain changes. Maybe add a little pressure to the go peddle to keep up the speed.

The last thing, finding charging stations. Yeah Tesla is easy.
