I think once the technology is dialed in the wrapper around it can change currently the emphasis is on aerodynamics and how do. We achieve longer range. Once battery advances allow plus 500 mile range in all conditions then that's when Ev's hit stride in the states. But if your looking at it that when will it happen it already is in other countries so the race to the solid state finish line is on and big oil is enjoying their last ride and I'm sure it will be fruitful for those involved. But as to my experience with heating cooling and long trips it's another great experience meaning it makes you think and is that ever bad. My trip to Florida from New Jersey 18 hrs ice 350 in gas. EV 20hrs and 165 in charging and no wife because she now flys because she now has an excuse it's longer but that's a godsend me and Fido have a pleasant drive that alone is worth getting an EV. But to me let's throw the football to the next generation and enjoy the ride and just maybe be amazed.

I keep learning AND refining my thoughts and wants as I read through these posts. What I really want is a SCOUT that looks at least mostly like the design mules we have been looking at. I have made my peace with the BEV compromises that will have to be dealt with.

At this point Scout should just go ahead with the Harvester as the high volume release model (hopefully gives just enough time for battery tech to make a jump?!). Will likely result in a burst of sales and then a fall off until the BEV arrives.

Meanwhile back at the ranch it appears petroleum based fuel prices will be elevated for some time (at least we have sufficient availability). Betting that increased fuel costs will result in BEV/EREV’s getting a more lasting kick in demand that incentives alone couldn’t create.

Unfortunately for the American OEMS, (maybe with the exception of Ford) their waffling back and forth will keep them at a disadvantage to imported options (regardless of artificial tariff protection).

We will have a lot to talk about between now and 2028.

Well to me it makes sense that EV or Erev or Hybrid vehicles to come up with a national standard as to max size of battery packs. This way manufacturers can allow modular spaces when designing vehicles and can manufacture beforehand allowing batteries to be last in assembly and clientele can pick battery pack range variants per their needs and makes for upgrades and service much more affordable

Donut labs charge rates are not even close to what the theoretical rate should be with a true solid state battery. I am suspect they even have a true solid state. I think they're suspect.

And what everyone should be excited about is the drive to manufacture the next great innovation in batteries not if it's just when. So regardless of the look of the BMW I 3 x EV it's the battery technology and the range that can be added to any motor car so you see ( facts ) the R&D money is being spent where ?? Batteries not V8's why because they are no longer the secret sauce. And that seems to be the consensus of the automotive industry. Yes the ice engines will co exist for decades but I love a life with no Ethenol !! Soon we will all be saying I can drive for miles and miles no charging necessary 500 mile range baby it's coming soon !!! Going to be a lot EREV's for sale In 3 yrs

Sorry your experience was not as good as it should have been, but it’s pretty much the same thing I’ve heard from a number of new EV users, all of whom now wouldn’t let their EV’s go without a fight. I had a few early frustrations too, but you get the hang of things pretty quickly and the benefits start to outweigh the little inconveniences. Like most EV owners, we charge 95% or more of the time overnight at home, and we’ve figured out the long distance thing to the point where we don’t think about it much. With gas rising and our cost per mile a fraction of our ICE car, I’m starting to think about dumping the climate killer and getting another BEV, especially since a lot of our electricity now comes from our solar arrays. I would never, ever even consider getting an EREV and having another gas engine to deal with. My advice is to chalk up your rental experience as a learning one and accept that you had a very limited view of what owning an EV is really like.
