Maybe try a used EV to get your feet wet buy it for 30 k drive it for two yrs get 15 20 k at trade or give to your kids ?

It's sounding likely that the Ford Rachero will start taking orders in Jan. 2027. Scout is going to lose any advantage that they had in terms of timing, fast.

Yes I’m by far not the most engineering or tech savvy of future Scout buyer but I’m getting increasingly concerned that our Scouts will be outdated by the time delivery arrives. We’ve seen such a whipsaw in the electric market of late yet the world is obviously headed that way. I hope Scout is saving space for adapting to how batteries and other tech change so upgrades can be made before our cars are delivered.

Correct Cadillac/ GM have engineered the ultimatum battery packs to be increased in density within the frames engineered chassis. Each manufacturer will probably have their own metrics as to battery packs which makes sense in an evolving market. I think Scout will come to market with the 350 mile EV and offer an Extended range version for additional fees as well as accessories such as Scout pack portables and Vehicle to home charging options. EV's are the future their just some hurdles to overcome you just have to take one home for a week and see for yourself

Outdated tech is definitely a sliding scale for everyone. Range will probably be the biggest for most perhaps? I think it definitely depends on the person. I rarely go over 100 miles a day and never tow. Not an issue for me. But not having a rear back up camera or heated steering wheel would be a deal breaker for me.

Today I saw an old guy (even older than me!) driving this restored 1940’s Cadillac and it looked unbelievable. That tech is 80 years old. Still, the owner clearly values looks and vibe over tech.

Theres just some times where lines and looks trump tech. Just my personal opinion but I think the Scout is going to have timeless lines. However the tech changes, it will remain a valued car solely on looks alone. Being an off-roader will cement its place in history, just like the first round

I agree I love the new technology and ride enhancements. But i also love when designers incorporate old school lines and knobs etc. within the new design bring the past into the future with class and rugged. But I need to like the shoes before they go on my feet. Quite frankly I'm loving this Cadillac Vistiq so scout can takes it's time good till 2029 before warranty runs out. 305 miles is good but round trip to grandkids running around between games etc. 450 be great hopefully that becomes reality in the near future. Escalade and new bmw claim to have so looking forward to seeing Scouts final product and if EV and Erev are produced simultaneously.

The way it's going, we'll have options for personal space craft and teleportation before Scout gets these vehicles to market.

Oh Gawd I hope not…. Quantumscape is down 60% on the year. There’s a company that gives investors a reality check- you can have a boat-load of patents and amazing tech but if you can’t scale it large for your customers then it’s pure cash burn.

Lets hope Scout has a plan B or an engine perhaps

Well it seems VW is highly invested in them so hopefully they have options but it seems that's where their battery technology will be coming from. They currently use in their EV options. But who knows What will be until the curtain rises by then there be decisions to be made in meantime have a great rest of the summer

Because Scout is dragging their feet on this project, it is going to affect them negatively in my opinion. EV tech is changing rapidly, and EV vehicles are changing rapidly. If the $70,000 Scout vehicles were on sale today they'd probably do OK. But by 2030 they won't have a chance because new EVs that are 50% less expensive will be everywhere by then.

We're already seeing Slate trucks and Ford Ranchero mules out on public roads testing today. These will be on sale within the next 12 months. With nice options, both will be in the $35k range. Do they have the off-road chops that Scout promises with the Traveler/Terra? Probably not. But it's going to force buyers to consider whether it's worth an additional $35,000 to have access to a few extra trails. I can tell you right now the answer for me would be NO. I'd be better off using a Ford Ranchero as a daily driver, and keep a used Jeep or SXS for occasional off-road play, with $20k still in my pocket.

I agree but most scout buyers will never off road they will simply enjoy the snow or possibly a day on the beach. How many Bronco's go off roading or Jeep wranglers I would not think a large margin. So scout for 70 k needs both luxury and off road capability with state of art technology. If not I'm in a Cadillac 3 row suv or BMW I'm off-roading through hurricanes in Florida and Rain storms and flooding in New Jersey so I would think there's a high probability that there are many reservations that will stray to other offerings because they never really ever off road

Quantumscape is their hopes and dreams for the solid state battery tech. But they can’t scale. That’s a big if and until then they can’t be counted on. But who knows in 2 years?

Currently batteries used in the ID4 come from what supplier makes the most sense. As Doctor Goog says:

• North America (US-built models): Uses cells supplied by SK On (SK Innovation/SK Battery America).

• Europe: Uses cells primarily sourced from LG Chem.

• China: Uses batteries manufactured locally by CATL as well as Gotion High-Tech. [1, 2, 3]
