I believe a look at corporate tax rates may shed some light on the question. Not just silly dealers, but individual states and their laws.
“The residents in Texas cannot take direct delivery of a Tesla; they must have the vehicle shipped from another state due to state laws. Instead, they can order online and pick up the car at a service center after it has been processed elsewhere.”
-Business Insider (2026).
That’s why I still can’t fathom how Tesla agreed to build the Gigafactory in Texas, and not Oklahoma or Missouri.
Oh sorry we are talking Slate, oh sorry mean Scout. sure laws still apply.
