Definitely turbulent times to say the least.
RAM dropped it's full EV pickup and is bringing back V8's for pretty much everything, Ford dropped the Lightning, Lamborghini dropped it's EV plans, Honda and Toyota seem to be all in on hybrids.
Lots of moving pieces out there. I'd like to see...
Yes, I think the technology will be better, but will Scout be able to pivot from what they are designing today to integrate the new tech?
At some point the tech needs to be "bolted down" so to speak. These cars need to be crash tested and certified probably 1-2 years before production. So...
This is Fords marketing problem. What you're seeing in China is a Bronco in name only. They did Bronco and Bronco Sport in the US which confused the crap out of everybody, now they have a "Bronco" in China too.
Bronco is a body on frame, solid rear axle, transfer case w/low range, available...
That’s all AI non-sense. ‘26 Broncos are currently out and on sale now. I’m talking about Bronco, not Bronco Sport or any other China non-Bronco Bronco.
If it's anything like Bronco your reservation number had nothing to do with when you got your vehicle. Ford built what Ford built and if it matched up with an order, you had to convert your reservation to an order, then you got your car. If you never converted your reservation to an order then...
That's all fine and good but what is the "later" pack going to look like? Will it be VHS, 8MM, Laser Disk, 8-Track........At some point you would think everyone would get together and decide on some sort of standard, that may happen but it's certainly not the case now.
Whatever new fangled...
The "good" news is that no manufacturer can foresee what the battery market will be in 3-5 years. Whatever car is on the drawing board now is using current tech to be designed. It's not like Ford can come out in '28 with a radically improved EV, they have to design their '28 model car with '26...
Agree, if they offer an ICE version they could strap a rocket on the number of reservations. That would make it a true competitor in the segment, right now it's a niche version of a body on frame SUV that could be great.
What ever battery tech they are planning for right now will be outdated...
That mirrors what I have seen as well. We stay 10-20ish nights in motels and I always look for chargers, sometimes they have one, most of the time none. I have seen it empty or a car parked there overnight to charge.
Why is range such a huge topic with EV's? My '25 Bronco has a 16 gallon tank and gets 20 MPG on a good day. I don't care in the least that I can "only" go 300 miles. That 300 though is pretty stable, matters not what ambient conditions are. Sure, extreme cold will hurt it a bit but not drop...
