Maintainability and Accessibility of Range Extender

“pretty easy” is a relative term. I wouldn’t have the knowledge and experience, but a skilled mechanic will probably already have the tools on hand. I doubt there will be an engine drop mode (hydraulics that lower the engine), something like that is another point of chronic failure. Changing...

Maintainability and Accessibility of Range Extender

Based on what they’re saying, this is going to be pretty much the only EV that you can tinker with. I really think they’re going to make dropping the whole motor subframe pretty easy.

Maintainability and Accessibility of Range Extender

Having a lift up hatch access would help with convenience, but would put a big damper on those that plan to use these rigs for overlanding. A lot of people like to install storage systems in the bed of trucks or the cargo area. Being required to remove those storage solutions just to change the...

Maintainability and Accessibility of Range Extender

I apologize, I don't mean to imply anything negative. I used worked up as a generic term, not attaching your state of mind or anything. I'm not sure how much Scout actually reads these forums, not saying they don't, but they pay for community feedback and think tanks. My thought on the...

Maintainability and Accessibility of Range Extender

You might want to wait and see before getting worked up about this. Based on renders, it looks like the little motor is just bolted to the rear frame. It won’t have any driveline components, just a fuel hose and wires. I imagine reaching it for maintenance will be as easy as removing shielding...

    Towing tech

Must haves for my towing needs (21’ bay boat): a hitch A camera that can see the ball at that hitch (Bronco and Wrangler fail at this) That’s it, a brake controller will prob be standard via Rivian base software integration.

Factory delivery will be available ... are you taking trip to Scout plant in SC for it?

You make a good point. My kiddo will be 7 at the youngest when the Scouts release, so I have time to work on her between now and then.

Factory delivery will be available ... are you taking trip to Scout plant in SC for it?

I live in NC and am a very early reservation holder. As long as they offer trade-ins (and provide a competitive offer) I'll take delivery from the factory. There's no way my wife would drive me 3.5hrs to pick up a vehicle.

Scout warns VW dealers on using intimidation to stop direct-to-consumer sales

Strong and professional, very well said. The same cannot be said of all EV company leaders.

Terra Backseat Room - Closer to mid-size or full-size trucks???

Out of Spec said the backseat is closer to an F150 than a Rivian R1T, which is larger than a mid-size. Looking at the dimensions online, the Terra is only about 6” shorter than a F150.

    Start stop button location

Sorry, I can see how what I wrote is confusing. You’re correct, Rivians do not have an on/off button, they also suffer from the most egregious vampire drain in the industry. The vehicles hardly ever sleep, instead they phone home to the Rivian mothership. An on/off button could mitigate that...

    BRAKE-TO-CLOSE-DRIVER DOOR

As long as it's only optional and not built into every vehicle. It would be great to not have yet another $80K EV suv/truck.

    Start stop button location

*edited for button clarification” I think the on/off button is a requirement since this is using the Rivian software stack. Clearly, most of you have not seen the abysmal vampire drain Gen 1 Rivians, and to an extent Gen2, have. People with Gen 1 Rivians are losing 1-3kWh of energy over night...

    Activity Bracelet... please!!!!!

I would be happy with Apple Watch/iPhone wallet integration. The power reserve function still allows for you to unlock and start the vehicle when the devices battery is dead.

Article: Why More People Are Ordering The Hybrid Scout Harvester (EREV) Than The Electric One

I watched this when they first aired it. This is outdated and incorrect data. Out of Spec, charged overland, and many others have better data points using Rivian R1T and R1S. The Wrangler 4xe is severely underpowered in EV mode compared to a true BEV, which means it has to work much harder. Out...

10000% EREV's have there place in the current world! Honestly, they should have been here 5 years ago.

Article: Why More People Are Ordering The Hybrid Scout Harvester (EREV) Than The Electric One

I hear you. I've been monitoring Toyota's progress on Solid State and Hydrogen tech as well. I'm not quite a Toyota fanboy but not far off, I've owned 3 of them over the years. While I believe a lot of the masses want hydrogen to work, I just can't see if from the chemical/physics standpoint. I...

Article: Why More People Are Ordering The Hybrid Scout Harvester (EREV) Than The Electric One

As I mentioned above, watch any video from Engineering Explain on hydrogen as a fuel source. Hydrogen fuel cells would work very well for truckers, but that's it. You can store the hydrogen as stupid high pressure, but the volume required for that would take up the entire bed of a truck and you...

Article: Why More People Are Ordering The Hybrid Scout Harvester (EREV) Than The Electric One

Watch any video from Engineering Explained about the problems with Hydrogen. Boils down to energy density and storage. Plus, the only way to make Hydrogen that is really "clean" is with Nuclear or Hydro power. Requires too much energy to isolate the molecules.

Scout UX / UI / infotainment / software deep dive demo from CES!

I'm hoping we can customize the drivers screen to our needs. Personally, I would like to have the ADAS drivers screen (the one that shows traffic around you) at all times, especially while towing. Otherwise, this looks really good and looking forward to additional demos in about a year when...
