Encouraging to see overt specs w/out spare tire carrier, but would also like to know alternatives to carry spare underneath and/or inside.
Also good to know I can avoid a few things I don't need/want -
off-road suspension option
able to specify 35-inch tires for maximum off-road capability...
We've got a Grand Highlander hybrid so planning Traveler BEV. FHEV + BEV is a great combo to have in your garage. If we were at just one vehicle, would likely do Traveler EREV.
This is the key - skipping the tailgate-blocker isn't as great without an alternative way to carry spare. Even compact spare if necessary to fit underneath.
I don't think we've seen any confirmation from Scout that's its optional, carriage alternatives vs. tire sizes, etc. Just a vague notion of alternatives being considered, etc. And nothing about whether spare can be stored underneath and/or in cargo space.
CES display not only had spare on...
Great find - love the split tailgate and don't want spare tire in the way. Better underneath or inside.
But now that I think about it, shouldn't charging port be on driver's side?
I'd take electrochromic if offered, since simpler with no moving/mechanical parts. But I doubt it will be offered.
Whether we'd go for steel roof or glass + crude stone age shade mostly depends on headroom consequences.
I wonder if we'll see entry models w/ less offroad bias for your typical daily driver (the pretenders, including us), then an upgrade path akin to Jeep Trailhawk with more offroad capability.
Thinking Scout should start with nothing less than all-weather 3PMSF tires, which are generally better...
Highlight of my 2004 XC90 is split tailgate - current XC90's don't have this.
I hope Traveler can carry a spare underneath/internally w/out swinging gate - I want easy access to that split tailgate. Plus shorter front-to-back length in garage to have more room for bikes & stuff. Likely a...
FWIW - we have a Grand Highlander Hybrid for family road trips. So Dad's next care will be pure EV - no gas, fluids, oil changes, filters, plugs, exhaust, etc.
If I need to road trip solo out of EV range (which seems to never happen at present), would swap vehicles w/ wife. I'll assume...
Honestly I think EV tax credit is as good as dead. We'd need to lease then buyout to get the credit and own, so I suppose there's something to be said for simplicity and not bothering with all that.
I figure Scout will start mid/high-$50k, reaching $70k or so for mainstream configurations...
