Unibody counterpart w/ on-road bias for the vast majority that will never go off-road or tow.
Amber turn signals because all-red looks trashy.
Bulletproof plaid seats for coolness.
Disconnect mode for steering wheel so you can rotate it back-and-forth yet nothing happens. Classic retro feature.
Yep, similar here but 3 kids in line. First starts college in fall, so figure will take an old car away in summer 2026 for Soph year, so we'll need to add to family fleet. Then again ~2028 (assuming kids are asked back to college for those Soph years...).
As the timeline (understandably) slips well into 2027, we'll need to upsize the family fleet before then (~2026) due to adding new family driver. Hopefully I can just sit on my reservation awaiting next new family driver ~2028 for MY29.
Same for my prior-gen XC90 - one reason why I've not replaced it.
Looks like cargo opening is offset to the left to provide flat surface for mounting spare tire carrier. (Honestly I'm starting to get annoyed by all the Traveler photos w/carrier, would like to see live photos with carrier...
Any chance we'll see a trim w/ on-road bias, such as w/ all-weather 3PMSF tires vs. all-terrain? The former can be better in snow & slush, though not as good as dedicated winter. We're in N. VA, never go off-road, and I've got these on our cars - Pirelli Scorpion WeatherActive.
...so does '150 miles' BEV range mean that's when RE will switch itself on by default? Reducing rate of discharge of the smaller battery and extending to '500 miles'?
Or does that mean that's when the smaller battery for EREV is exhausted w/ RE disabled, and you then need to park to plug-in...
I'd gladly overpay for a solar panel w/in fixed glass or steel roof, just because. But given electrochromic was reportedly nixed due to cost vs. projected take rate, I suspect SM offering solar panel is a non-starter. Plus my understanding is that a small roof panel won't actually charge the...
Imagine the extender fires up at maybe 50% of pure EV range (75 miles? 150 miles?). That then slows the rate of discharge of the remaining battery to push range to 500 miles or whatever. But not enough generation coming from extender to power the vehicle solo. Once you exhaust battery...
I always helpfully advise fewer job changes and car transactions. If you like the Volvo just keep it, Scout timelines could change again and its better to be in position to just wait it out.
That said, one consideration is warranty coverage on that PHEV - powertrain is 4 years/ 50k miles...
Does 'late 2027' constitute a 2nd delay vs.
"when the production EVs start rolling off the South Carolina line in 2026" ?
https://www.carscoops.com/2024/09/vw-owned-scout-motors-confirms-oct-24-launch-date-for-new-evs/
"Production is scheduled to kick off in 2026, with the Scout vehicles set...
Yeah assuming fall 2027 launch for MY28 then MY29-30 could be a safer bet.
Following spring 2027, our next-next new vehicle might not happen until fall 2030/MY31. So plenty of time to work out the bugs by then, maybe even midcycle refresh? Very long wait though, sheesh.
But as long as Scout...
...we have (fraternal) twin boys getting licenses in spring 2027, so timing was already really tight to plus-up the family fleet via Scout. I'll likely just keep driving my old Volvo and get the older kid a Toyota hybrid - and pass the old minivan she drives now down to the boys to fight over...
No indication Scout will appear at upcoming DC auto show, and that's just down the road from Scout corporate HQ. I imagine early appearances will be limited until closer to production timeline.
