Totally Agree - if it's an engineer's goal to reduce unsprung mass, Scout's essentially adding more with the EREV generator on there. Am hoping they'll get some redesign but I'm no engineer...
I like the 18's vs. 20's; better for 4-wheeling. Bumpers are nice, not overly garish and I like the integrated winch. That front skid plate...so beefy and far better than plastic (as it looks like metal to me!).
edit: that front bumper looks more plastic than metal now that I've zoomed in a...
I love the integrated winch and it's subtlety, I don't need anything garish on the front screaming "look at me!!!". Would love to see some undercarriage armor vs. that plastic but time will tell. Can't wait to take this beast off-road!
I don't think they have any fully functional vehicles. All of these are prototypes or test mules! The one that was drivable cost over a million to prototype according to Koegh, basically told Leno not to jack out up :?
New videos highlighting the same things we've seen, but am still impressed every time I watch them!
He mentions that a screen in the back was a potential "miss", but honestly I think if they reduce the number of "extra" things that aren't needed the cost can stay down.
I'm seeing this...
Interesting announcement...
https://www.thedrive.com/news/scouts-harvester-gasoline-powered-ev-range-extender-will-be-built-in-mexico
In a somewhat surprising move given the current international trade climate, Scout Motors announced that it will source a gasoline engine from Volkswagen Group...
I feel the enthusiasm in general is dwindling, so a few stokes to the advertising fire would definitely keep folks talking.
Personally I'm showing everyone that I talk to "my next ride" and it always gets positive comments on the looks. When I talk about the EREV aspect my audience perks up...
Yes thanks for posting pics!
"also verified that the battery only mileage is 350, with another 150 provided by the Harvester engine charging the battery. Have seen this spec presented the other way, so good to have clarity"
I feel this information keeps going back/forth on what the actual...
Agreed, time may be on Scout's side, however to solidify manufacturing process, software and build specs they need to lock in sooner rather than later. I don't think these decisions are a Just-in-time choice, but I've never manufactured a car, though I am sleeping in a holiday inn tonight, so...
The issue Scout is going to have is finding vendors to source parts, and again won't all be in the US. 'dem prices gonna fly which is going to hurt us all as consumers., and hoping it won't kill the brand because they might not be able to get off the ground.
I'll be the first to admit I was...
Considering not *everything* will be made in the US, even for Tesla, costs are going to go up. Of course sh!t runs downhill so we get to pay for all of these dumb-ass decisions.
