I concur here. My in town driving is 90% or more so the 150 is sufficient. The Harvester will be good for road trips, particularly in places like Wyoming, Montana, etc. if starting off with a full battery and gas tank can get you 500 miles, that’s 23+ mpg. Not too bad for a full sized truck with...
Todd C I think you have the right of it here. The size of the Scouts will be the primary limiting factor. I wouldn’t get near the Black Bear with either of these vehicles. That said, if the Traveler/Terra were closer to Jeep/Bronco dimensions there’d be no stopping them.
Engine braking is something i’d like to know about with EV’s. It’s hard to beat grandma gear going down a steep trail (not highway) that demands very low speed. I’d hate to be riding my brakes all the way down. Any thoughts on this?
My first introduction to Scout was in 1962. My dad bought a brand new unit and we traveled everywhere, Colorado (where we lived), Utah mostly. We drove it to the Seattle Worlds fair in 1962, then down the coast to grandma’s house. Going through San Fran, the clutch went out. The first of four. I...
That ‘62 was my introduction to 4WD utility vehicles. I’ve loved them ever since. The Scout announcement caught me by surprise; and made me drool. Made my reservation in May for a Terra Harvester. All the growing-up good feelings welled up making me dream of doing it again in my retirement...
Wow! A Hillman. Haven’t thought about that beast in forever. We had one when we moved from Ft. Stockton, TX to Denver in 1958. Dad’s 1st. Scout was Two vehicles after the Hillman.
Not losing interest, but coming to terms with my real reason for wanting a Scout (wifey helped with that). The truth is, this will be a nostalgia purchase for me. I’ve owned two, my dad owned four. I learned to drive in the ‘67. My first thought was, I want all the off-road bells and whistles...
Having offroaded in 60’s/70’s vehicles with leaf springs all around (think Scouts and Jeeps), i can see how a properly engineered AS would contribute significantly to the experience. My question is, would this feature be independently controllable? Sidling shelf roads give me the Heebie-Jeebies...
