Neps is right here. We can ask for everything and end up with a $250,000 ICON build that not even 1% of the people will buy. A new car is a starting place for the end user to modify as needed for their specific purpose. I actually think more fun is had building up the offroad beast than...
I really like #3, #5, and #10. 5 and 10 shouldn't cost much. 3 will push the price. Scout is targeted for rugged more than comfort like an expensive Rivian. They may have different trims as time goes on to appeal to the option hungry orders.
Thanks for sharing your ideas DCH.
They have already stated they would start with mobile repair network and grow it into a brick and mortar repair network. I think we are good there. I suspect early repairs may need more time as they ramp up, but hopefully we won't need many :like:
Scout is a company. To be successful, they are going to need to sell vehicles. Lots of them.
From the other posts in this forum, people are very happy with the direct sales model and removing the ever painful dealer experience and its costs. I propose we help improve this model. How about...
I would like a black headliner in a durable material. I have had Alcantara, or a sturdy weave. The felts I have seen were not long lasting. I also want real leather. Not Genuine Naugahyde/Vegan leather/pleather/vinyl which are all plastic. If I was a slob and needed to mop it up, I would...
I feel it must have a low opening like this so those shorter than me can access what is in there. This is easily barricaded with a slot on both sides and a plastic, carbon, unobtanium board slid down in place. Now the tall or short are happy.
You could also put a net there. Easy to retrofit...
I totally agree. I have this available via a detail screen on BMW, but not on the big map screen. I would just correctly label this "elevation" since I don't plan on getting altitude jumping the scout ;)
Nowadays, a company has to always be changing to keep up or it sinks. Any employee that says, "This is the way we have always done it," is just preventing the company from achieving a higher mark. A great businessman takes calculated risks and solves the problems as they come.
So, Scout knew...
Last I checked, the company that put solar on my house quoted $12k(after an $8k credit)to install a battery and inverter system. The battery was about the price of the credit. I don't think many will pony up for this. For that amount, you could just buy a massive Generac and integrate it...
You cannot lease a Tesla directly in South Carolina because the state blocks in house financing with DTC. You have to obtain financing elsewhere. Hopefully they can go the route of limiting the number of stores as a worst case like Mississippi, Ohio, Maryland, Virginia, New Jersey...
03-07 Saab 9-3's had a pretty cool button for this labelled, Nightpanel. It turned off all lights to the dash and radio except for the lower end of the speedometer. Anything of importance like a high RPM, exceeding the illuminated portion of the speedometer, low fuel, etc would cause that...
Read about the 2013- BMW i3 REX. This had a range extender generator. System can be a little different, but it can answer a lot of questions with a 12 year old design.

The split tailgate was awesome on the X5. Nothing ever fell out when opening the back, and you also were never leaning over a dirty bumper to get to it. The lower tailgate just extends a little beyond the bumper, so not a drawback for reaching in that would require orangutang arms.
"Generally" a lease is the depreciation expected on a vehicle. (disregard profits and such for the exercise) If a 3 year lease is $20k, they expect the residual or buyout value to be around $40k on a $60k vehicle. If it is worth less, you can hand the keys and walk away. If it is worth more...
The cabana roof is very similar to these cars:
BMW Isetta '55-'62 overlap
Fiat 500 '57-'75 overlap
Fiat 500 '07+ integrated rail guides
BMW 318ti California '96-'99
Nissan Figaro '91
VW Beetle till '67
I am sure there are others.
SImple and reliable. That sells and sells and sells. Just ask Toyota. It would be a huge success to have a vehicle that outlasts my interest in it. It seems like it is the other way around with most vehicles.
I hear you. Many of my cars had vertical gutter trim on the windshield for this purpose. I would guess it also quiets the wind buffeting at certain speeds by directing windshield air up over the car vs around the side which creates a low pressure at the side window and it blasts in when open.
