  1. Other models for scout?

They have already said (or at least hinted very hard) that they will be adding a 3rd model at least.
  2. Road Noise

Power screens are probably somewhat effective - I have them in 2 vehicles. But like window shades, they block sun from shining directly in, but a good bit of heat still gets past the windows. My Jeep hard top just seems to work better. That said, part of the issue with the VW is it probably...
  3. Road Noise

Sound insulation is independent of tires - but some tires will naturally be louder than others. Roofs can also be a decent source of noise - which is why I personally would prefer a decently reinforced hard top rather than a rag top. Plus being in the sunny south-I don't like the easy bake...
  4. Is EV model's 350 mile range with 35" tires or, if not, what tire size?

We eventually put 35" tires on our Rubicon. Minor change in ride, larger change in performance. WE replaced our JLUR with a JLURD - no performance change with the 35" tires due to the extra torque. My 2017 F250 was stock 35" tires. Kind of am just used to them as normal now.
  5. I canceled our two reservations

While I can understand the 5k limit might be disappointing for some EREV reservations - even if it could tow 10k lbs, the range doing it might still be disappointing anyway. I don't think it is being designed as an extended range towing vehicle - but that is just my WAG. My bet is the 150 mile...
  6. Scout's reaction to possible repeal of EV tax credit : "Scout Motors is here to stay."

I suspect a lot of early adopters are not eligible for the old credits. I recall, when I still had my day job - a few of the office people got free EV's. Essentially street legal golf carts - but free for them. Even then, the large print giveth, and the small print taketh away. No great loss...
  7. 4-Cylinder Harvester EREV engine confirmed by CEO Scott! + 0-60mph, range, payload, towing specs discussions

Oh it might be a good location for the pump and filter-but kind of sucks when you randomly get questionable gas. I never went over 15k miles without some problems. Dealers would not fix them under warranty - always needed $200 worth of injector cleaner. Eventually figured out it was the...
  8. Anyone else losing excitement/interest?

while I am not overly worried about the gear sounds of the production intent, I was a bit surprised. I would have thought they were going to use an off the shelf e-axle for it - so that should not have been much of a work in progress (I would have guessed it would have been one of the more...
  9. Traveler Ultimate Wish List for Scout Motors

The problem with wish lists is their are realistic hopes, and unrealistic ones. I fear most of mine are probably not very realistic. But on the more realistic side... Start with looks that are very close to the production intent vehicles. I hate it when I fall in love with a vehicle, and it...
  10. Scout Traveler displayed in downtown Denver Colorado. Lots of closeup detail pics

35" wheels I think are now factory on some Jeep and Ford trims (and I would be extreamly surprised if Chevy and Dodge don't have any). My 2017 Ford was OEM 35".. I could easily be wrong, but I don't know of any consumer vehicles that come with anything larger OEM. I think there may be plenty...
  11. Anyone else losing excitement/interest?

I don't think the Harvester is an afterthought - but it is a planned for an intended market, and when you plan for one intended market - you probably will not satisfy every other market. I think it is designed to address range anxiety for the majority of the market (which is not towing). It is...
  12. Useful for the third owner

Last time I had to replace a bulb on my VW it was over $1200 for parts alone. I am worrying now - knew a running light was out on the front driver side, but lost the passenger headlight today. This will be the 3rd headlight I have had problems with since I got it. One was due to a collision...
  13. Anyone else losing excitement/interest?

And for a lot of us - the fact that it is full sized is why we are interested. Of course - Full Sized is relative. It is not 3rd row seating, or F250 full sized. Having gone from 6' bed, to 5.5' bed, to 6.5' bed - I will never have another 5.5' bed 1/2 ton truck.
  14. 4-Cylinder Harvester EREV engine confirmed by CEO Scott! + 0-60mph, range, payload, towing specs discussions

Just an indirect observation. My old Dodge truck had the fuel filter on the fuel pump in the tank. I talked with fleet managers at the time - they knew it was an issue. Pulling the bed was a lot faster than dropping the fuel tank. Pulling the bed was a couple of plugs and 4 bolts IIRC...
  15. Anyone else losing excitement/interest?

I want the Scout to be a 50 states vehicle. Something that can connect people, not divide them. If it makes a statement, that is the statement I hope for. It will be hard for Scout to be a success if they are a 31 or 19 state vehicle. I would have to do a lot more time consuming research...
  16. Scout confirms more models coming in future. What models would you want?

2 door version like a 2 door Jeep or Bronco. 3rd row version - compete against Grand Cherokee. Extend cab with a 6'+ bed. Offer a flatbed of that one too :) - a yute tray (but since I am dreaming, make sure it can deal with a goose neck ball while we are dreaming). That all said they will...
  17. Range extender versus standard gas engine - what can be omitted?

What would an vehicle engine have that a generator would not... Well I am not an engineer, but here goes a few thoughts. Generators need to run at a constant speed to produce a constant current (inverters can run at variable speed, but...). Even inverters are designed to run at a constant...
  18. Estimated charge time for Level ll (home charger) for BEV or EREV models?

Your charger is going to be limited to 80% of your circuit (80% is generally the recommended constant current). Then there are secondary limitations - I think thing the plugs are for 40 amp circuits, but direct wire can be used on a 50 amp circuit. Of course all of that is at 240 volts. So...
  19. Estimated charge time for Level ll (home charger) for BEV or EREV models?

A bit of googling. NACS peaks out at 240 volts and 48amp-11.5kw/h. Not sure about it, but I was told that is for a tethered charger. It might be further limited with an unteathered charger (the plug might be limited). So unless Scout does something somewhat unique (as mentioned in a few...
  20. Anyone else losing excitement/interest?

2 years is a long time to wait. There is going to be plenty of time for excitement to wain and wax over that time. Market wise, plenty of time for ups and down. Only real thing I am loosing interest in is checking the forums multiple times a day for more news. Currently building my forever...
