  1. Time to give up the frunk (if you want the Harvester engine)...

Good topic. I don't care about the frunk but strongly believe Harvester stays put in the rear. Towing capacity has not been confirmed so it was kinda putting the boat trailer before the frunk, so to speak? I suspect towing will be higher than people currently expect. That Leno interview was a...
  2. Time to give up the frunk (if you want the Harvester engine)...

This is likely going to be the case just from the standpoint of where the engine mounts and frame are in relation to each other. User serviceability is also a priority. Scout Motors Strategy Director Ryan Decker discussed this in an interview with The Drive in January. The engine shouldn't...
  3. Time to give up the frunk (if you want the Harvester engine)...

Supercharger is an interesting idea. I don't think it will be necessary though. Without a turbo a transverse mounted 2.0L TSI is around 215 HP. When tuned for EREV applications 10-20% higher output is very possible. That's 240-260 HP VW has the budget. This is bigger than just Scout. VW needs...
  4. Time to give up the frunk (if you want the Harvester engine)...

There isn't going to be a spare under the bed. Could be something like an optional and removable spare on a swing like the Traveler. I've used a spare one time in thirty years of driving. Don't need it. Total waste of space and added weight.
  5. Time to give up the frunk (if you want the Harvester engine)...

Ah, knowing how you came to 250 HP explains a lot. You might be right if 1000 lbs of torque were set in stone. A turbo would be necessary to get to 250 HP, and a turbo mounted on a 2.0L TSI likely wouldn't fit rear of the axle. But, there isn't going to be a turbo. I'm sure people will freak...
  6. Time to give up the frunk (if you want the Harvester engine)...

I doubt the current location of the Harvester engine will be an issue. There is a ridiculous amount of space under a truck. The bed to the bottom of the rear axle on my Ram measures 24 inches, which is basically the same height of the "biggest" 2.0L EA888 engine currently produced in Mexico...
  7. Trump to impose 25% tariff on all imported vehicles & parts [LOCKED DUE TO NO POLITICS RULE]

Scout said it is 80% North America. The US auto industry is heavily integrated with Mexico and Canada, with parts crossing the border an average of six times according to some estimates. If there are tariffs on each transit you can imagine how problematic that would be. Basically a tax on a tax...
  8. "The Knob" - Harvester contol

The Indicator would show the Harvester operating status and set point on The Knob. It could easily be displayed elsewhere along with the electric only range, total range, fuel level, etc. And no, I don't want to use the touch screen. Touch screens invite layers of complexity. It drives me nuts...
  9. "The Knob" - Harvester contol

Sir, that's a switch. I'm just kidding. Yes, I think that has all the basic design elements. I definitely wouldn't want it on the steering wheel though. Mode select brings up an important issue. I find driving mode select only gives an illusion of control. People don't really understand what...
  10. Scout on CBS Saturday morning today! [Watch the video segment]

Tesla wasn't invited because the event was held with UAW. Tesla is not a unionized auto manufacturer.
  11. "The Knob" - Harvester contol

Pitch for The Knob: It's a knob that does NOTHING. This is The Knob, and we're not going to change it.
  12. "The Knob" - Harvester contol

Obviously The Knob and The Button need to light up with The Indicator when Harvester is engaged. You reap what you sow - The Indicator
  13. "The Knob" - Harvester contol

They could even put The Button inside The Knob?
  14. "The Knob" - Harvester contol

In keeping with the return of physical buttons and knobs in the Scout I would like to propose a simple control for the Harvester system simply called "The Knob". This would eliminate the proposed three settings for the Harvester: EV only, mixed, and max charging. The Knob would be an actual knob...
