@panzer948 I agree and have the same sentiment, however the bulk of pre-registrations are in the EREV, not BEV. They potentially could get their name out there faster with the BEV but if they're dealing with factory and design issues well that's another story. I'm sure we won't get all the real...
Not good news for sure, but am hoping Scout stays the course in terms of producing vehicles. We can complain as much as we want but nothing is changing the reality that they're dealing with.
I'm thinking about the kids of today, heck even millennials, that most of them don't even want to drive and are looking for convenience more than the driving experience. Think of the fat humans in the movie Wall-E and that's how I think of people in the future! Too lazy, dumb and have everything...
For my use cases I'm holding out for EREV. In fact, it'd be nice if they came out with the BEV first, that way they can start to take care of some form of customer base as well as start selling direct to consumers, assuming the EREV portion is causing an issue with Direct sales.
Once they get...
I disagree with the "towing only" statement - EREV's will also appeal to folks with camping or 4-wheeling lifestyles, where plugging in won't be readily available yet still needing the ability to generate (pun intended) power to move or otherwise. I agree there will be lots more competition, and...
I'm still holding out for Scout, but part of that last article disturbed me a bit:
" Because the software alliance with the US start-up Rivian has not yet delivered what Scout needs, Volkswagen's own, itself crisis-ridden, development unit Cariad has to step in."
First - VW's partially paid...
Yup just saw this as well, which means DTC sales won't happen and dealers get their fingers in the pie; i.e. higher prices for the vehicles because "you need our special anti-rust under-armor coating that can't be removed from the price"
Speaking of "special emails from Scout" - I just received the "Notes from the Field" email with all sorts of cool links about peeps with Scouts (community), an old Road Heritage book and some info on the current Scouts (spoiler: nothing new). Seems the CRM system is working if that's their...
Standard architectures, which is what Rivian software requires, to be applied to custom VW "features" are not going to be compatible. VW has to make concessions to leverage standards with modifications to the standards to be applied to their systems. The problem with that is revamping VW...
Pretty amazing to watch them reshape our world - literally! Interesting they lay down dirt 1' at a time to make sure it stays in place, "only 100 ft to go!"
Scout is "scouting" for new sounds to bring to its new rides.

While it may look better, the axles, bearings, brakes and other components need to be able to handle moving that extra weight around. In other words they need to build it from the factory with those specs in mind vs. putting them on as an after-thought.
Has anyone tried changing a 37 in the...
Am hoping that Scout is smart enough to allow customers to add individual options/components vs. forcing "packages" on us. There was a similar thread elsewhere, but just ranting...
I'm hopeful too @PMurphy ! The self-service aspect is highly appealing and why I drove around and '09 jeep vs. 2024 jeep. Too many electronics to break, plus Stellantis has shit the bed in terms of durability and support.
Now I know the new Scout is going to have a shit-ton of EV-related things...
